Lord Nelson Pub & Accommodation

We are dog, cycle, walker and car friendly.  We have undercover storage, drying facilities and a large public carpark next door (which also has an electric hook up facility).  We have a courtyard garden that is a suntrap with six large picnic tables and parasols, ideal for taking refreshment and relaxing in the sun.

There is also a residents lounge where you can relax away from the Bar or if you are more energetic, then take a pleasant 25 minute walk to nearby West Bay with its fabulous seascape and cliffs.  The alternative could be a wander through Bridport and its shops and emporiums and where live music is often playing in Bucky Doo Square.  The theatre in the town has to be visited to be appreciated, an icon of art deco in style, it stages music, films and plays every week (Electric Palace).

We are very much a community pub, where, throughout the winter teams compete in alley and table skittles, darts, cribbage and much more besides, but in the spring, summer and autumn the Jurassic coast and countryside entices many visitors to our town and to The Lord Nelson.

We also have a military wall over our bar reflecting all those who frequent The Lord Nelson who have served, which is why we are an official sponsor of Help for Heroes.

We are a dog friendly pub/hotel and we welcome your dogs both in the pub and in our rooms.  Cages are available should you require them, instead of bringing your own.


Meet the Team

Camille took over the pub in July 2016 and has fully refurbished the whole pub and rooms with the help of family, friends and very loyal customers who have turned their skills into creating a very attractive local community pub. 


Our whole team make your stay enjoyable and you can be guaranteed a very warm welcome.  There’s a lot of local knowledge available throughout the team should you require any advice on places to visit, events taking place or other establishments to eat. Ask us anything and we will sort it for you.
